Lulu remembers - The day my Grandma died - when we got there she was real tired and her breathing sounded so different than anything I had ever heard. When she saw us there she was happy to see us. She said that she was tired that she couldn't even go to the kitchen and make her puzzles, then she turned to a rose that was in a vase and told me, "Look mija isn't it beautiful? Leti gave it to me para que se me alegre la vida." and smiled
I also remembember when Chuy took little Annie to see my Grandma. Annie was talking to her in Spanish and my Grandma answered in English, "Hi! how are you?" It was so sweet to see Grandma speaking English. I felt a lump in my throat to see my Grandma, even if she was so sick she didn't let her loved ones see that. She smiled at Annie and told her she loved her.
When I was with my Grandma she told me that the reason she didn't want to die in the USA was because people don't even pray, “ni un padre nuestro.” We stayed quiet for a moment then I softly caressed her face and put my hand on her and started to pray and at the end of my prayer I prayed el padre nuestro and she prayed with me. At the end of the prayer I kissed her and she told me, "Gracias mija, que Dios te lo pague." I loved my Grandma so much that I wanted to give her what she wanted.
